Anyone want to share the ride for a while?

DAILY BLOGS ARE BENEATH THIS SHAMELESS SOLICITATION (WHICH IS NOT TO BE IGNORED)!

It will be a long ride. He will be accompanied by his good friend Soe Naing and they could use some incentive. The best incentive is support for the Just Aid Foundation, which is why this is the Just Ride 2011 – it will raise funds to help deliver health care for Burmese people on the Thai-Burma border. For more about the charity and the health care it supports, please visit the Just Aid website: http://www.justaid.ca.

There are 4 ways to support Just Ride 2011:
# 1:Donations. There are two kinds: a General Donation (see A below) and a Just Fund Rider donation (see C below). All donations go to Just Aid and are tax deductible; an official receipt will be issued by the Just Aid Foundation before tax time next year.
# 2:Join the ride for an hour, a day, a week or as long as you want. See B below.
# 3:If you can't ride on the road, you can use your contacts to raise funds. Be a Just Fund Rider. See C below.
# 4:Bet the codger can't do it by pledging a conditional donation. See D below.
A:Make an outright donation in recognition of Rod's irrational ambition to bicycle across the continent at an age far too advanced for such a ride. This form of support is encouraged! Click here to make a donation. Or, if you prefer to send a cheque, make it payable to Just Aid Foundation (please note "Just Ride" on it somewhere) and send it to Just Aid Foundation, 300 - 1275 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6H 1A6.
B: Join the ride: You are welcome to join the codger on the road. His blog will give you his approximate location at any time. A Just Aid donation of any sort will entitle you to participate as long as you want. And if you have a partner who wants to accompany you in a vehicle (carrying panniers from point to point) your welcome is guaranteed.
C:If you can't join the ride on the road, you can be a part of the ride as a Just Fund Rider: Register as a Just Fund Rider and use your network to raise more donations or pledges. There will be prizes for the Fund Riders who raise the most. To register, click here and then invite donors to find your name in the Search section of the Donate page where they can “Pledge me Now” in order to make a designated donation. Leading Fund Riders will be displayed at https://donationrelayonline.com/JustAid/JustRide2011.
D:Make a bet the codger can’t do it. This is easily done by pledging a donation conditional on his performance. Specify your pledge and send it to justride2011@gmail.com. There are many ways to structure such a donation. You can design your pledge any way you want but here are a few suggestions. You can pledge any amount:
-per kilometer or mile he completes. To help, his route is approximately 5,800 kms or 3,600 mi on the road plus a couple of ferry rides. At a penny per km, this commitment would be about $58.
-if he makes it to Halifax (without taking a train, bus or cab).
-if he makes it as far as any place you want to identify. This type of pledge must be honoured if he makes it to the same longitude because his route may not pass through the place you specify.
-per jurisdiction he enters. Be aware that his tentative route includes seven provinces besides BC and as many as nine or ten states.
